Week 5 Blog
This week's blog assignment was about research around the world. The website that I chose to explore was Early Childhood in Australia. This website has a lot of information on early childhood, and some of the topics are the same things that we face here in the United States. Research in Practice Series(RIPS) is a section that I explored. RIPS is an easy to read resource that helps individuals who are in the early childhood field. RIPS has an array of publications that you can read, for instance Play and quality in early childhood: Educating superheroes and fairy princesses. This publication talks about the importance of play and quality in an early childhood setting. Another publication talks about transitions helping the child feel secure when parents leave. I really enjoyed exploring this website there where many interesting things, I learned that early childhood is really the same around the world.

LaRoyia,
ReplyDeleteThrough my explorations I also found that we are struggling with the same topics all around the world. After seeing so many of the same topics, I start to think if maybe it's just not a normal situation if it is happening everywhere. Thanks for sharing :)

LaRoyia,
ReplyDeleteIt seems like quality and secure feeling are two top topics in the ECE field across the world as they should aptly be. These links are extremely helpful to get a sense of the field in other areas of the world and I agree with Stephanie that they seem to be the same issues everywhere despite the social or the cultural conditions. I am guessing that humans are still learning the same unknown things about children everywhere and research and access to resources such as these are the way to go.
Thanks,
Divya
LaRoyia,
ReplyDeleteI am very concerned about play being such a limited element in the school environment for our children. With the information you provided, I think I would find some great insights regarding play. In particular, I'm interested in the "educating superheroes and fairy princess," sounds like it would be fun to read. Thanks
Latasha
LaRoyia I believe that children should be able to enjoy more play than what our school allows these days. I feel that recess would help channel some of the energy that alot of our children have and actually the outdoors is great for them
