Week 5 Blog

A friend and I where having a discussion about a movie that we had just got finished watching. I did not think that the movie was very good, it was actually kind of boring and I was glad that my friend had paid for my ticket. My friend began to talk about how much he liked the movie he was really trying to convince me that the movie was wonderful. I began to have a small disagreement, but I stopped sat there and thought about it I remembered what we where learning about the concepts of NVC: respectful, reciprocal, and responsive. Upon thinking about that I just listened to his point of view I eventually was able to find at least one scene in the movie that was kind of funny. Being able to communicate in a respectful way helps get your point across and the parties are more receptive to the information.

  1. LaRoyia,
I agree that being able to stop and look at a situation from the other person's point of view can change your perspective and preserve a friendship. This course has been a real eye-opening experience and has made me really think about how we communicate....and how we should communicate.
