The show that I chose to watch was the Big Bang Theory. I have never actually sat and watched this show before but I have heard that it was a really good show. Watching the sow with the sound turned off was interesting, there where six individuals sitting around a table having lunch. The relationships of the individuals seemed to be a friendly one, the non-verbal behavior that they where displaying seemed happy because there was laughter, eye contact, and their body movements where done in a joking way. The individuals all seemed to be friends. When I turned the sound on my assumptions where correct. It was a group of friends having a good time at lunch laughing at one another and joking with each other.
This assignment has taught me that non-verbal as well as verbal communication is very strong. You don't always have to verbalize in order for someone to realize what you are saying, basically actions speck louder then words sometimes.
Hi LaRoyia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your blog on a tv show you have never seen before. I too heard wonderful things about this show and after reading your post, I am more interested in watching a few episodes. I like that you were able to view the show without sound and identify the types of relationships that were present based on their nonverbal cues. I look forward to reading more from you in the upcoming weeks.

LaRoyia,
ReplyDeleteMy assumptions from the tv show that I watched was very similar to what you saw as well. I was able to determine some of the things that were going on just by watching the way they acted on the show with each other. I chose to watch an episode of Friends and more specifically the one where each of the friends were figuring out that Monica and Chandler were dating. It was interesting to watch it with no sound and then with sound. It is neat to see that our body language and nonverbal communications can say a lot without really saying anything at all. Thanks for sharing!
